Procrastination seems to rule
My life most every day
And then I have no time at all
I’ve frittered it away
Poems, stories, and the like
Sit lonely in my files
And wish that I would visit them
If just once in a while
Knowing that I’ve reached “the end”
Of something, brings such joy
While hanging sentences and lines
Serve only to annoy
Curse that dreaded writers’ block
And all that draws away
From finishing this work of art
Without one more delay
I’m so glad my Lord above
Is not at all like me
Perfectly completed work
Comes as a guarantee
With Him, the many odds and ends
We see are not a threat
But just a small reminder
He’s not finished with us yet.
So I struggle forward
But determine to take heart
Although it’s hard for me
Thank God, You finish what You start.
I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6 (HCSB)
