Going Home

Going home
Got the word today
From HQ
One more mission
One more day
Going to see the family
Going to see the kids
Going to see my love
Going home

Going out today
Going on patrol
Easy time
Gone before
On same patrol
Going to same place
Going on same streets
Going to be an easy walk
Easy mission
Last mission
Going home

Sun hot
Streets busy
Surrounded by buddies
Not talking
Paying attention
Ready even though
Many kids
Reminds me
Mine at home
Dream a moment
Going home
Step on mine

Room white
Sheets white
Curtains white
Nurse in white
White nurse
White bandages
Red blood
Soaking white

Last call
Doctor know
No chance
Too much damage
No time left
Call home
Satellite phone
Unlimited time
Big laugh

Going home
Told my loves
Wife and kids
Father and Mother
Not to them
But going
Home anyhow

Done my duty
Done my time
Done my best
For God
And country

No tears
No time
All my love
Always

Be at peace
Be at rest
Be assured
I am going home
To
My God

Good reminder that this day may be our last. Poses the question: "Where will your home be?"
