A hair color's goin' 'round these days,
for most of those over fifty,
beautifully frosted by nature's ways,
and lookin' kinda nifty.

I always wanted frosted hair,
likin' the way it shined,
couldn't afford the beauty shop fare,
so that left me behind.

I once tried to do it myself,
my “frost” turned out to be blue,
all those products on the shelf,
s'posed to be tried and true.

I gazed at starlets in magazines,
wishin' I had their good looks,
glistenin' highlights in movie scenes,
actin' out story books.

I settled on blonde and curly,
lightened by Miss Clairol,
I learned to color it early,
and no one knew at all.

My mother's hair was sprinkled,
with salt and pepper shakers,
before her lovely face was wrinkled,
without the hair color makers.

Now, I've just let nature win,
with my salt and pepper locks,
silver sparkles mixed within,
and they didn't come from a box!

Hahahahaha...So many of us will relate to this whimsical poem! I loved it...and totally on topic.

You are a seasoned beauty and it shows from within to without. you shine like a diamond.

Great flow, great fun, great job!

God bless~

This is a very refreshing poem that makes you smile in that you know folks in your life love to keep their hair a youthful blonde. This is fine for sure!

As for me, I have no hair to worry over of which keeps me far away from any barber!

Easy to follow rhythm in the words.

I looked forward to the end of the line so I could see your rhyming words.

It flowed so well this style seems natural for you. Keep us your good work.

Whimsical and fluid. Great bit of prose.

This is a delightful piece. You had me smiling and even giggling. It reminded me of the time Mom had her hair frosted and boy did she take a ribbing from the male bus drivers at her work. Congratulations on a job well done and of course, Happy Dance!
