Dig into God’s word, that’s what, and get the true story from him. God is the one who knows the end from the beginning; he holds the whole world in his hands. Do we believe it? Do we trust him? If we trust him with our souls for eternity, can we not trust him with our lives here on earth?
I know we are not immune from trouble. I know Christians are sometimes the most persecuted and abused people on earth. This is nothing new, and I must confess, I am glad I live in a country free from persecution for my faith. How would I hold up, I sometimes wonder, if I was thrown into prison and tortured?
But when the alarmists try to trouble me, I hold on to God’s word. I read As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. (Genesis 8:22) I read that I am to meditate on God’s word day and night (Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2).
I read that in eternity … there will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. (Revelation 22:5). What a glorious day that will be!
Our troubles and sorrows are but for a moment. Our new life with God will be for ever. May I live in faith and joy while I am waiting for that glorious day.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
