They weren't desired anymore
They'd lost the skills required
To please a cold, machine-based world
To techno-gadgets wired
They didn't fit the requisite
Robotic mindset mold
That bonds to icy cubicles
Encased in fool's gold
Such push-button mentality
Our friends had long outgrown
That's why they voted to depart
That dreary, hard-drive zone
They chose to leave the isle
Of pad, web, I-tune, and smart phone
In favor of careers detached
From rule of flesh and bone
Take Kyle, ex-blind man, seeing past
The bounds of normal scope
No man-made medicine could give
This guy such fervent hope
Amid a sea of charcoal screens
Kyle shimmered like a jewel
But his sharp eyes evoked outcries
From colleagues jealous, cruel
His strength of vision dwarfed their own,
His talent roused their ire
Campaigns were waged to smear his name
With calls to "boot" and "fire!"
But Kyle's friend Jeff, who once was deaf,
Helped foil their design
He blew his whistle, told the truth,
And then chose to resign
With honest ears the two dodged jeers,
The mockers they ignored,
But welcomed cheers that challenged,
"To shrink back we can't afford"
(especially when your commission comes straight from the Lord. Oh, and here's another one:)
Once lame Celeste sports too much zest
To sit behind a desk
Her springy step demands a task
Less cramped and zombiesque
Before her healing, all she did
Was scrounge and skimp and beg,
Prime candidate to test a new
brand of prosthetic leg
But now she lives to spread the news
Of how her scourge was cured
The one-time Health Care poster child
Delights to spread the Word!
Why stay confined behind four walls
When you were meant to soar?
Why plant your hands in sinking sands
On some reclusive shore?
They vetoed HIS existence too,
So do not be surprised
If some elect to reject you
They're sure to ostracize
For those who don't fit in are often
Called to something more
Do you hear the Master's tap?
He's knocking on your door
If you don't fit in, perhaps you're called to something more...
"Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in..." Luke 14:23
