Tongues wag, lips curl, mouths resemble snarling dogs
Gossip is uglier than swiney, muddy hogs
What good comes from it--nothing--not an ounce
Someoneís always hurt in the wake where others pounced

Once a rumorís birthed, if itís fed, then it keeps growing
What if the victimís innocent of the soiled seeds now sowing
How does one recapture a bird thatís taken flight
How does one hold back the setting sun from bringing night

If you hear a rumor, squelch it like a saint
Gossipís of the devil, and his friend I hope you ainít
Rumors and tainted words go against His good instructions
Douse any fuel that adds to this devilish seduction

Remember ďthe sky is falling,Ē one crazy misconception
Get the facts, never abide with damaging deceptions
Tidbits of hearsay that defame character or kin
Should never be repeated, for thatís a deadly sin

Do unto others as youíd have them do to you
Gravitate to people whose words are always true
Be a friend, a confidant; with friendships youíll be blessed
Always speak with kindness; at days end youíll find your rest

Proverbs 12:19 Truth stands the test of time; lies are soon exposed (NLT)

You did a great job with this poem. The topic is all through it and the Scripture verse a perfect match. Nicely done.

I always enjoy good poetry and good messages... this entry combines both very nicely.
