For everything, there is a season; God is Lord of all
Life is seen in spring and summer; even in the fall
But what about that season which devours healthy trees?
That causes life to take a pause and actually to freeze
When all the leaves we saw are gone, we know what lies ahead
The fruit that grew abundantly, we know will soon be dead
Could winter be a season, which our God would bring about?
And if so, is there something we're supposed to figure out?
I ask this for He tells us nature testifies of Him
His handwriting is on creation, making it a gem
Since He himself created everything we feel and see
We'll learn of Him through winter; even through a barren tree
When winter comes, the life that flourished seems to go away
The air we breathe is chilling and there's far less light at day
And this can be depressing, when reflecting on the past
Reflecting on those prosperous times which didn't seem last
I'm writing metaphorically; there's reason to these rhymes
For all of us experience these chilling winter times
The fruit we saw within our lives just seems to disappear
We know God has a purpose, but His reason isn't clear
Sometimes, we may blame ourselves for not producing fruit
But fruit is brought forth naturally if there's a healthy root
Genesis says each seed brings forth fruit of its own kind
Believers have the seed of Christ; we must keep this in mind
In nature, winter swallows what we knew and causes change
The life that blossomed goes away; a pattern awfully strange
But though a tree looks dead outside, the life is still within
The tree will once again bare fruit, although we don't know when
The winter leaves, and then proceeds the melting of the snow
When in the right environment, the fruit will start to grow
In season, we will flourish like we never have before
For God opens a window every time He shuts a door
Every season serves its purpose then it goes away
Winter may be cold and dark, but it's not here to stay
God permits such troubling times for reasons we don't know
But still the end result is that in doing this, we grow
God knows what He's doing whether times are good or bad
He's in control; remember, the Creator is your Dad
He said "let there be" when He was ready to create
He'll sometimes permit hardship just when things were going great
The God that made the dolphin made the jellyfish and shark
He made the light and darkness, but the light to rule the dark
So in the winters of this life when things feel cold and dead
Just know it's but a season and that spring lies up ahead
