There it is! The light at the end of the tunnel is finally coming into view. I can hardly contain myself. My patience to see this day come is rapidly turning to impatience. Now that it is here I can hardly wait one more day.

It has been such a long journey to reach this place in life. I want to remember this ultimate experience. I want to capture my voyage in a journal.

My expedition started off at an extremely slow pace. I was in no hurry to be anywhere else.

All my basic necessities were provided, thanks to my wonderful parents. They are the world to me. Their endless love for each other rubs off on how they treat me too. I am a very lucky girl indeed.

I guess you could say swimming is my passion. I learned how to swim at a very early age. Being in the water has been a tremendous part of my entire life. I love the water. It is refreshing and a buoyant place to spend my time. I feel so at home here yet gills are not what I use to breathe but rather lungs because I am human.

Mom says I swim like a fish but who can blame me? It is such fun having the time of my life jetting through the water. Other times my pace is real slow. How slow or fast I move about is up to me and it is not unlike me to change my mind often.

One of my all time favorite water tricks, like many little girls enjoy doing, is to tuck in my chin, pull up my knees, and do somersaults like a gymnast, only under water. What a thrill!

Throughout my swimming career, my coach put me through many physicals to check on my well-being. It seems there are too many early swimmers like me who had a rough time of making it work for them. Perhaps they started out too young or weak. I am one of the lucky ones and this makes me very happy. My parents are happy too.

The light at the end of the tunnel is beckoning me to come out of the pool now. So ready or not world, here I come! My name is Josie Mae and I was born today.

Wowee...I just LOVED this. The ending was so wonderful. I think this is one of the best ones I've read this week. Really touched my heart the way the baby already knew such love. What a terrific take on the topic. Just excellent writing here.

*smile* You got me.
At first, I thought, "This needs more details and plot. It sounds like a child." (Well done, for it WAS a child!)It was a little short, but I don't know if you could have stretched it to the full length without revealing the setting.
Well done.

Yes--very clever! It kept me guessing 'til the end.
