Oh, I want it. Dream of it. Crave it.
The glory of God. Have you ever seen it? Touched it? Caught just a glimpse?
His face? Who could dare look upon it?
But I want to see it. I want to see His smile, His eyes. I want to hear His laughter, trace His tears. Will it ever be?
I soar through life. Trials come and bash me around, but surely one glimpse of His face will be worth it in the end. The wait seems endless.
Beauty dances through my life. I swing a child around in circles, and we run through fields of flowers, getting out fingers sticky with raspberry juice. My fingers trace a heart in the sand while my eyes stare dreamily into the horizan. I laugh at the antics of an animal, dance in the rain, race in the wind, make a snowman with my children.
Did I just catch a glimpse of His smile?
I cry at the death of a loved one, weep for the child on the street, fight anger for the woman with bruises around her eyes.
Did I just trace His tears?
Yes. For a moment, perhaps. His heart is in this world.
But... I long to stand in His presence.
The glory will be unfathomable. Think of the most beautiful flower, sunrise, or mountain. Or the palace of a king. The glory of His throne room and splendor put those to shame. I can't explain it. It is too glorious and wonderful to ever fully comprehend. Just know that His glory exists. Just know that to stand in His presence will be the best thing of all. It is worth dying for... living for.
And one day, I will see Him face to face.
