As I prepare for my nightly repose,
this day has come to a weary close,
faith fondly leads to words in prayer,
God designed this time to share.

This day has passed with blessings bestowed,
small wonders recalled as my eyes are closed,
tomorrow's questions come before sleep,
tonight my worries will rest in His keep.

Psalms sing to my soul; all qualms cease,
thoughts drift into a restful release,
to ease my sorrows and faulty fears,
no time for self pity and all of its tears.

What a glorious feeling it is to pray,
in tune with God towards finding a way,
to the path He shines on for me to follow,
that leads me down by a river hollow.

In silent commune with my sweet Lord,
calmness caresses with word after word,
my soul soaks in His mercy and grace,
smiles of contentment cover my face.

A voice speaks to me gentle and low,
my heart rejoices and tensions slow,
forgiveness flows through every vein,
lifting me from guilt ridden pain.

God hears my prayer as a faith melody.
His song prepares tomorrow for me,
together we sing a sweet lullaby,
slumber comes with an audible sigh.

I like the unusual rhymes such as "prayer" and "share"; and "follow" and "hollow".
