He moved along at a leisurely pace, taking in the sights around him. Beauty was everywhere his eyes turned, and he marveled at the palette of the Creator. This was home – this was life, and while there were grand edifices built within which to worship God, here he was part of a never-ending song of praise to the Almighty.

Deeper still he went, finding the increasing blue hues did little to diminish the clarity of the scene. If anything, the loss of color sharpened his focus, forcing him to notice motion and contrast. Each moment was new and different, convincing him that if he spent forever looking, he would still never see it all.

A whispered thought reminded him that he was blessed to be a part of this, and that few would ever venture beyond their drab cocoons to uncover the secrets. Many told him it was dangerous, and let their fears keep them hidden behind their façade of safety.

God smiled, and shared wonders with him, revealing His hand even in the dangers. All creation served God, and worshipped God, and here, more than anywhere else, he felt immersed in the Holy Presence.

He breathed in slowly and purposefully, and then released the air to bubble to the surface, unconcerned that his supply was limited. The air never lasted as long as he wished, but it always lasted enough. It would be ungrateful to not thank God for the time he had to spend there, simply because he wanted to spend more time in that place.

More time…

His eyes opened and ended the daydream memories of the scuba trip. The images of the pristine reefs and the abundant sea life were replaced by the plain walls of a cubicle and the glow of a computer monitor.

With a sigh, he logged into the computer to begin the work day, wondering when he would again be blessed to return to the water.

great imagery, colors, natural beauty. I loved the way it all ended up, back in everyday life again. I guess we all should have a place to go where God's beauty can be shown to us.

Yes the underwater world is breathtaking indeed. You did a fine job describing its wonders.
As a claustrophobic diver the only thing that kept me underwater was the spectacular beauty which overcame my fear.
