Topic: Sizzle (05/02/13)

TITLE: The Case of the Missing Sizzle!
By Rita Minner

The Case of the Missing Sizzle!

Typically, a topic or subject worthy of interpretation is dissected and critiqued but ‘sizzle’ poses great challenge. Primarily a sound effect used for enhancing readers’ sensory engagement; it remains unique. Only those writers with a fair endowment of chutzpah will tackle this.
So be it! Let all who are not fearful, gird their loins and hunt down the creative essence that is “sizzle”.

No other word sounds like it and nothing at all compares. When the ‘s’ is emphasized, “s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s’, it sounds much like the hiss of a slithering snake but do not be deceived. If the ‘z’ in sizzle is uttered and held to resonate; some sane person will be certain a bumblebee’s crash-landing on the windshield is imminent. Listen...can you hear it?

Erroneously we conjecture that sizzling comparisons are out there, but name one, just one…seize− settles−pieces−princes. These are close, but not close enough. S’s and Z’s but no ‘sizzle’.

IMPOSTERS ALL!!! It’s not a snake or a bee. It’s all about individual sizzles.

Every reader here sizzles with uniqueness; no comparisons exist. No two people have the same eyes. The iris is as distinct as our fingerprint because we are stamped with the fingerprint of God. Yahweh. Utterly, impeccably, positively, indisputably unique, Jehovah God. The one true God. The Alpha and Omega, The great “I Am” existed always and is eternal. He breaths into us the breath of life making us eternal as well. Just as a geometric line goes on forever and ever; we, as his creation, sizzle on endlessly and forever. We do not extinguish. Our great God, our Father creates the “sizzle in each of us imbuing us with abilities and purpose.

No human being is able to harness or create a sizzle. Frying up strips of bacon makes pork tasty and crispy but neither the fryer or the fry-ee creates the ‘sizzle’. Invisible, it floats through the air and is as much a reality as the meat.

Placed within us, sizzle’s potency may go unheeded or ignored, possibly invisible for a time. It may not be fully seen or heard until the time is ripe and we are willing to follow God’s leading, but it is there. Make no mistake. It pushes, shoves, and stretches the boundaries of self-limiting belief. Often relying on personal capabilities and resources, we imprison ourselves within the guarded confines of a safe and tidy box but our sizzle is not defined or limited by personal insecurities, physical or emotional ineptitude. Sometimes it takes time to recognize or see the sizzle God places within us but disobedience to acknowledge it and follow His leading is sin.

We do not create the sizzle−God does and He is limitless. From the moment we invited Him into our lives, the Holy Spirit leads and empowers; no longer constrained to the limits of personal boundaries. We were created with a distinct and personalized sizzle. He gives us our own.

And there we have it. The case of the missing sizzle is solved. We will not replicate or attempt to duplicate another’s sizzle but prayerfully depend upon God to use us fully in the way He created us. This sizzling predicament is no longer a predicament because the Missing Sizzle was never missing in the first place.
