Measure, a space between two lines in music,
Filled with two, three, or four beats or more
To tell a story; dare to impact a life,
A mere instant in your life,
A mere blink of the eye and itís gone
Take a breath and listen to the pulse
Donít breathe in the middle of the measure
Just watch and play, follow the conductor
Trust him; he knows the music inside out.
Sometimes the measure might get tricky
Full of syncopation and odd rhythms
Donít close your eyes; and donít stop
Just keep going, no hesitation,
Boldly approach the measure with confidence
After all, the pulse is still there, guiding you on
Donít look away, watch the baton
As it continues its graceful dance through the air
One and two and three and four
Play the measures together
Watch the story emerge
A story of life and death
The worldís fall and her redemption
Salvation, hidden between the lines,
A Holy heart, full of love
Pounding, inviting you to follow Him
Through each measure of life
Will you follow?
