Once within a dreary world
He dropped me to my knees
Your days are spent, itís time to go
I begged for ďmore time--please!Ē

What will you do with one more day
Or ten years more if granted
Will you then honor Me
And sow in fields unplanted

Now sweat formed in rivulets
As His gavel swung mid-air
Seven weeks Iíll grant you--
Use them wisely, go prepare

I sought Godís forgiveness
For ignorance in years past
Love others, share my words--
That is each servantís task

I set to work dismantling
Angry walls that I had built
In humbleness I swallowed
My old bitterness and guilt

Some folks, you might imagine,
Thought me daffy or deranged
Until I shared my story and
The power in loveís exchange

This world, it breeds conflicts
And manipulates our souls
It garners our attention
As it scoffs at worthy goals

So many crooked roads are
Paved with lies and desecration
Beware, at first they may seem smooth
But hell laughs at desperation

I opened my new Bible
Began with John, our Saviorís friend
These words, they lead the way
To heavenís kingdom without end

When I look into a mirror
I finally like who I see
God gets all the credit
His love grabbed a hold of me

In the time I was allotted
Metamorphosis occurred
My lens of life was clearer now
Where once it had been blurred

I labored in His mission fields
Though arriving somewhat late
The joy was in the working
Sowing seeds to perpetuate

Whatever the time or season
Get ready--make a choice
Devote days to worldly nonsense
Or bow and listen for His voice

Wow this is a powerful piece. It's filled with wonderful advice and the words flow so beautifully. It really tugged at my heart and made me rethink my life's goals and dreams. Powerful poetry.

Starting from a threat, you wove back through to a promise and clearer values. I would have liked to see something about the challenge of undoing the habits that led to the wastage, but the word count could have easily squeezed you out. Well done.
