The supermarketís not my friend,
For instant meals Ė thatís the trend.
But quick-fix dinners are taboo
For overweights like me or you.
When Iíve driven to the mart
I choose with care what fills my cart.
I read all labels -- first for fat,
Then salt and carbs; how smart is that?
I bypass all those frozen meals
And shop for health and not for deals.
Very few will meet the test
For health and taste buds, all the rest.
Fresh dairy products are a must
And fish thatís firm and fresh, I trust.
Salad fixings, crisp and green,
Then veggies for my soup tureen.
Iíve vowed to trim my tummy down,
Wear skinny jeans without a frown.
And so I scan each fat-filled aisle
Until Iíve lost my cheerful smile.
Temptations meet my jaded eye.
Mmm, that looks good Ė strawberry pie.
I hurry past the bakery.
Please hide that stuff is now my plea.
Iíd better hit the checkout now
Or I might break my fresh food vow.
But guess whatís there before my eyes;
The candy shelves are no surprise.
A shorter line is now my hope
But no there isnít one, you dope.
Iíll close my eyes and say a prayer
Those chocolate bars will disappear.
Whew! Itís my turn now, guess I won.
My week of dietingís been fun.
Iíll stash the food and hit the gym
But not because I care Ė ITíS HIM!
