A bird that no one else can see
Goes everywhere along with me.
He perches lightly on my sleeve;
I surely wish that he would leave!

He thinks that he’s a diet guru
And tries to tell me what I should do.
Sometimes I hear him softly mutter,
“Eat biscuits dry; you don’t need butter.
In fact, you really don’t need bread;
Just eat some carrot sticks instead.”
I wish he’d go and soak his head.

I have a sweet tooth that’s so healthy,
If it were money, I’d be wealthy.
I like cookies, cakes, and pies,
And if I eat them, he just sighs.
He knows I’m fond of chocolate;
I mean I love it—quite a lot!
He thinks I’ll give it up—or not!

I also like ice cream and candy;
The both of them are fine and dandy,
But he’s a killjoy—that’s for sure.
For all those things with such allure,
Like sweets and like potato chips,
He says that when they pass my lips,
They’ll rest forever on my hips.

A bird that no one else can see
Goes everywhere along with me.
He perches lightly on my sleeve;
I surely wish that he would leave.

Delightful, and so sweet. I so enjoyed this poem that was on topic and so different. Thanks.

This was cute, flowed smoothly, fit the topic perfectly,and the rhyming was not forced. Good job.

I love your poem. I like your light-hearted take on diets. That little bird...a lot of us have one of those, but I manage to silence or ignore mine a lot!

Hahahaha!! :D What an intelligent but bossy bird! I've heard one of his relatives speaking to me, too! Sometimes I listen and learn, but other times I eat the "goodies" anyway! I truly enjoyed this delightful and well-written poem!

I'm still laughing, so all I'll say is great job!

Does this mean your self-control has 'desserted' you?
Very entertaining read.

Now that's about the funniest things I ever did read right there! I LOVE this and I know what you mean about sweets, especially ice cream! Absolutely delightful!!

Wow, great rhymes with this. I love that part about wishing the bird would soak its head. What an interesting take on the topic! Congrats on your EC.
