Within the flower
The feast inside the bloom.
God’s provision
Afforded there
His fragrant banquet room.
Do we forswear
The same for man -
His Mortal wingless soul?
Succored only
By toiling hands
In vain to make him whole?
The bounty of
The earth and sea
The offerings of the skies
Earthly creatures
Both great and small
Made one - by needful cries
Beyond man’s tongue
God’s put in place
A craving for the stars –
Above his reach
Outside his grasp
Gifts swallowed from afar
Immortal souls
Of God’s design
Made by His Loving hands
Instilled in us
Our appetites
Beyond our earthly lands
On certain verge
Of dust to dust
What need of mortal things?
Urns of decay?
Nay hearts fulfilled -
Pure joy borne upon wings
Of faith and dreams
Of trust and hope
God’s gifts redeemed by Scars.
Awaits all men
Their just rewards
For swallowing the stars.
