A honeybee once came to visit,
With pollen on her feet:
The stories of a hundred lives
From blossoms ’cross the street;

I filled her heart with nectar,
For the day she was a queen!
I wished my friend could stay forever
And help me build my dreams—

But she had other hearts to touch,
Beyond the reach of eye;
For other blossoms needed her pollen,
And so I let her fly.

My petals drooped with sorrow
When I had seen her go;
But she brought just a tiny piece
Of all the joy I’d know!

For soon arrived another bee,
With new accounts to tell;
A different kind of pollen
For me to taste, as well—

A hundred more came later,
Each bringing different tales:
The stories of the mountains,
The messages of the vales!

I do not like to see them go,
But each one played her role;
A potluck from a thousand flowers
Has fed my hungry soul.

Delightful, loved it! Unique and clever analogy to show the uniqueness and value of each person we encounter! Indeed our minds are filled with tidbits gained from a potluck of people, each in their own special way helping us to form our perspectives. Terrific poem!

I enjoyed the uniquely different spin you put on the topic--using flowers and bees. Great rhyme and meter--this flowed so smoothly and its message was well received.

This is a lovely and fresh take on the topic. You painted a beautiful picture for me. Congratulations for ranking 19 overall!
