Attacks will come--they’re part of life
Where do you turn in times of strife
Be aware of foolish pride
That riddles hearts with angry tides
In this world plans go awry
Discouragement keeps us asking “why”
We crave the answers that we want
But be aware of tempter’s taunts

Be on guard when things go wrong,
Close your ears to tainted throngs
Planting subtle seeds of hate
With one desire--to manipulate
Selfish agendas attempt to sway
Tolerant folks to support their ways
Now bad is good and good is bad
In ignorance misguided hearts are clad

Hungry hearts once filled with passion
Making do with measly rations
Of hurried minutes, rushed emotions
Dampened flames of love’s devotion
Others that hunger for attention
Like pranksters flirting with detention
Dare to stoke adulterous fires
Fragmented moments, cheap desires

Be prepared for persecution
Should you defend the Constitution
Against immoral demanded “rights”--
Find courage in His guiding light
Vitamins fill each scripted verse
Which shore us up as times get worse
Nourished souls respond with faith
Fed by Words not poisoned bait

Cling to the omnipotent God
To deliver you against all odds
Shield your heart with daily prayers
And trust the One who truly cares
Joy springs forth from hearts at ease
Because they know the One to please
Worldly whims, they have no merit
Compared to what His child inherits

Bang on topic, and giving numerous ways of avoiding succumbing to our sinful nature. Well done!

You have a wonderful message. (I love your title). The words and phrases you use in these lines are my favorite, "Of hurried minutes, rushed emotions -- Dampened flames of love’s devotion..." Nice work!

Such a talented piece of writing contained in this "power-packed" poem. Thank you for this. I loved it.

God bless~
