As we plod our way through the journey we’re on,
We find the path twisting and winding
Through fields of buttercups and sunshine
On the mountainsides,
Followed by the dank gray marshes
Of the valleys,
And back again.
At times rugged patches of stone
Bite at our feet;
At other times the streams
Cool our toes and remind us
Why we are doing this.
In the happy moments you smile at me
And my heart responds in kind,
And we dance with the buttercups
In tune with the rays of gold
Poured out from above.
In the sad moments you lean on me,
And I lean on you,
And our linked hearts stumble their way, together,
To a better day.
I do not understand
The twists and turns life brings us,
But as the path winds before us
Our Father shares each moment with us;
As our hearts are entwined
His love is weaved into our lives,
Creating a cord of three strands
Which will never be broken.
