Oh, sinful man,
that says there is no God,
what a predicament
you create for yourself!
Yet, you are too blind to see
you have boxed yourself in,
separated yourself
from hope—beyond
your cage of self.

You have wedged yourself
between the Rock of Ages
and the hard place of foolishness
and deny both;
you have trapped yourself
in the faithless abyss
of your own barren brilliance
trying to shine—
but to what purpose?

What a pickle you have yourself in!
Denying God—denying afterlife—
denying your eternal soul;
you then
have no real significance
but to live for the purpose
of existing—
just aging meat
pampering itself
with worldly spices
waiting
for its expiration date.

What a curse then,
that your proposed
roll of the dice DNA
gave you a mind
that could comprehend
your ultimate uselessness,
your mortality!

You throw out
the Bible—citing it
as unbelievable;
deem it
a confining fairytale
that traps man’s freedom;
then you fabricate
your own Godless yarn,
but what
a hypocritical plight
that leaves you in,
for your story
confines life
with no way
to have a happy ending.

You are stuck
up in a tree of ignorance
denying, denying, denying
the One—who still
offers you a ladder
of hope—of escape
of truth—of love
that passes all understanding
a ladder
that could take you
to Heaven—to Him
if only
you’d stop kicking
at the truth of its existence
and step on.
