A sudden flash of lightening lit up the dark sky. Nebulous clouds hung low, as the thunderclouds clapped. I peered out the window and watched the rain cascading down in sheets. The stormy weather mirrored the gale that raged in my soul. Haunted by years of past hurts, the accuser of the brethren mocked me. Falling on my face I cry, “Jesus, help me.”
“Forgive and you shall be forgiven.”
A bitter memory taunts me. I wail, “They should ask “my” forgiveness. I didn’t do anything wrong. It’s “them” not me. Can’t You see. It’s their fault not mine.”
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
A sweet presence sweeps over my being. I know He is in the midst. A holy stillness envelops my restless spirit, as His loving arms embrace me. Suddenly, it doesn’t matter who wounded me. All that matters is that I please my Master. I stop resisting and fully surrender.
“Peace be still.”
A peace that passes all understanding grips my soul. My circumstances haven’t changed yet inwardly I am not the same. This time He didn’t calmed the storm, but this time He calmed me.
“Be filled with My Spirit.”
I delight in His presence and realized a special truth about the Holy Spirit. When It pours, God reigns.
Suddenly a sunbeam splashed its ray on my tear-stained face. Looking up I see a beautiful rainbow. I whisper, “Thank you, Lord, for helping me trace a rainbow through the rain.”
