Speedy envoy, glorious being,
Powerful, faster than the light.
Hastening to earth’s farthest corner,
Unrestricted, day or night,

Is there any limitation,
Any sphere you cannot touch?
Any hidden far location
You can’t reach – oh, is there such?

North and south, mountain and valley,
East and west, shore, plain and sea,
Any place you’re sent, with swiftness
You fly with prompt immediacy,

As sentry at the gate of Eden,
As messenger with news of birth,
As rescuer granting protection,
As source of help through famine’s dearth.

Sealing tight the mouths of lions,
Calming storms at ‘Peace be still’.
Guarding, shielding, sheltering, hiding,
All at God’s commanding Will.

Breaking from eternal glory,
Thousands joined to sing with joy,
Dazzling hosts announced the story
Of the Saviour – baby boy.

So - Is there any limitation,
Any sphere you cannot touch?
Any hidden far location
You can’t reach – oh, is there such?

Is there, yes, there was one moment
When you longed with speed to fly,
Sword in hand, to aid, to rescue -
Instead, you had to watch Him die.

Mystery, immense and awesome,
Silently you viewed Christ led
To the place of untold suffering,
To the place you dare not tread.

There, from shining courts of glory
Whilst all Heaven held its breath,
Angels from the realms of glory
Viewed th’Eternal suffer death.

Then, there came command of action,
‘Fly, with instant speed and might
Move the stone, the tomb is empty,
Shine with conquering radiant light.’

‘Christ is Risen, Hallelujah,’
Triumphantly, go, spread this word,
Cherubim, from brightest glory,
Let the truth be worldwide heard.

Speedy envoys, glorious beings,
Obedience marks the steps you tread,
To guard, to shield, strengthen, enable,
Those to whom you’re sent and led.

PEFECT in EVERY WAY! There IS a one-and-only time when angels would not dare to intervene. Your poetry I think is sublime - very easy to read and yet so powerful. Just a masterpiece - truly. :-)

To capture such scope so succinctly shows real skill, and to set it in poetic form is even greater skill. Well done.
