Pitter-patter
Raindrops splatter
Hissing, kissing dusty ground
Dark clouds smother
Blue skies cover
Grim and gloomy all around

One man sprinting
Broad smile hinting
Joy within, rain won't wipe out
Smiling brightly
Dancing sprightly
As the rain falls all about

Running quickly
Sleek and slickly
Passing Ahab on the way
Loudly shouting
Victory flouting
"Glory, what a wondrous day!"

Ahab snarling
Knuckles gnarling
Flicks his whip at horses swift
Muscles straining
Hearts complaining
Closing not the widening rift

Brown mud churning
Friction spurning
Chariot wheels slip and slide
Rain that's gushing
Tumbling, rushing
Ahab tossed around inside

Elijah skipping
Well outstripping
Proclaims aloud in joyful song
"See God's power
This very hour.
To him alone all things belong."

Years of drought
Sin brought about
Those desert days have ended
God's holy fire
Ignites desire
His power, now comprehended.

Water splashing
Downward lashing
Cleansing, making all things new
Rain clouds spilling
Rivers filling
Rays of sunlight breaking through

God is reigning
All sustaining
No one else with him compare
On His throne
He rules alone
Awesome glory, He'll not share

This is a highly skilled and near perfectly constructed poem. I like the way you wove the story and held up the rhyme. Good job.

Great job! I love the rhythm here, too. It almost sounds like rain to read it.

Melanie, you've done it again. The rhythm of this captured the topic perfectly. It was a delight to read. Keep up the great work. Love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
