I thought it was my job
To convert you,
So I laid out candies
In a line that led
Straight to the altar,
But you tasted one
And turned away,
Scorning my attempts
At bribery.

I waxed my eloquence
And left it out to shine,
Hoping to impress you
With big words
And flawless logic,
But you saw past
Every whitewashed wall,
And disdained the show.

Desperate,
I pillaged my stockpile
Of weaponry.
Finally, I made an impression:
The missiles of judgment
And damnation
Broke you,
Shattering a fragile heart
And casting razor-sharp shards
Throughout your life.

But the condemnation
Of the church
Cannot persuade a wounded soul
That there is power
In a Fatherís love.

íCause it was never my job
To persuade you,
After alló
I could never be the one
Who saves you;
No blood of mine
Could cleanse your soul.

íTis only when I come alongside
And help you piece together
Your shattered heart,
That you finally get a glimpse
Of heaven.

Good job bringing forth a great and true message. It makes me sad to know that a lot of people have been in this position; I pray that they find the Lord before it is too late. Nicely done. God Bless~

I like this Ė it is so true, too many people try to do the job of the Holy Spirit instead of just following the Holy Spiritís lead. Good job.

I love this! We tend to make sharing the Gospel such a difficult thing, when really it's all about showing the love of Jesus to others. Congrats on your EC placing!

Oh, I love this. I'd like to put it on a 3x5 card and keep it in my purse, so I can read it again and again.

Congratulations.

Congratulations on your EC award. Isn't it wonderful to know that God is in control of all things and we are just ambassadors.

Wow, this made me gasp with its deep deep truth - so very very true and wonderfully expressed. Congratulations on a very well deserved win.
