Topic: The Importance of Being Earnest (not about the play) (08/04/11)

TITLE: He Called My Name. . .
By Mona Purvis

The jury box was empty. The gallery was filled to overflowing and yet, not a sound was heard emanating from the crowd whose eyes were fixed on the glorious bench. There, clothed in startling white, sat the Judge of Judges, flanked by angelic bailiffs.

I held my breath, biding my time, awaiting the thundering of my name.

Noah bowed before the court. I recognized him immediately although I had never met him. A dove sat on his shoulder. A voice as powerful and majestic as all of earth's waterfalls broke the silence.

Well done. With faith you took an unbelievable message to an disbelieving world and with diligence you completed an inconceivable task. It is finished.

The next to step up and bow before the court was Abraham. I instantly felt a strong connection to this man from long ago whom my generation admired greatly.

Well done. With faith you traveled three days to Mount Moriah to sacrifice your beloved son, Isaac. I know what pain your conviction cost you. I provided a Lamb. It is finished.

Daniel followed Abraham and he looked just like I expected.

Well done. The king asked you if the God whom you serve continually is able to deliver you from the lions. Your ardent faith answered that question for all generations. It is finished.

Moses bowed before the judge. He carried a staff and it seemed such a natural thing.

Well done. With faith you told Pharaoh to let my people go and with faith you led them through the wilderness to the promised land. It is finished.

Next came Esther. Her beauty was breath-taking as she came before the Judge.

Well done. Your faith proved true as you took the bold risk to save my people. For such a time as it was. It is finished.

John the Baptist was so clearly recognizable with his garments. He laid a crown at the Judge's feet.

Well done. Others failed to see what you saw through your faith. You prepared the Way and paid with your life. It is finished.

I knew Mary at once. She looked so young and innocent as she bowed before Him.

Well done. Your faith stayed strong and unto you was born a Son who came to earth to save the souls of mankind. It is finished.

Paul came forward on hands and knees and lay prostate before the Judge. He left a small script at the Judge's feet. Tears flowed from my eyes as I thought of all he had taught me.

Well done. You have finished the race and there is a crown for your faithfulness. See all the saints your zealous love for Me has touched. Now, you may go find my Stephen; he wants to meet you again too. It is finished.

Peter was next. He drew closer to the bench than others had. He fell on his face and wept.

Well done. With faith you walked on water. With wisdom and purpose you preached my gospel to an unbelieving world. It is finished.

Over and over I witnessed the faithful called before the throne of God. I clung to every word spoken by Him Who sits in judgment. What I came to notice even more was what was not said. No condemnation. No sins revealed. No blame. No price to pay.

I heard my name. . .

Awesome images ... I enjoyed reading this, and could imagine your MC sitting on the edge of a seat waiting to hear his name.

Oh I loved this, could envision each one…and the anticipation of the MC waiting for their name…oh what a glorious day that will be for the believers!! Never will being earnest in our faith be more important than on Judgment day! Excellent job on this!

I am stunned. This was a film in my head. Glorious grace. You captured God's character - his essence - so very well.
