Gifted with His Spirit,
God's presence deep within,
Planned, created, by design,
To bring glory to His name.

A gift to those around us,
The Holy Spirit works miracles in each one.
Though the trimming may be painful,
Still in earnest yet He carves...

Making each a treasured vessel
Far beyond what we could imagine.
A vessel of use to those with whom we come in contact
Whether for a minute, an hour, a day.

He's training us to be useful...
A comfort, an encourager, an inspiration...
So that nothing in our lives lies wasted
But all things are used to glorify the Father.

His lessons are often painful, but worthwhile.
Sometimes we doubt we will survive the wounds life delivers,
But God's plan, so far removed from sight,
And His ways past understanding, moves on.

He seems to use our most uncomfortable circumstances
To reach others in pain.
Seemingly empty of soul, we may feed hundreds
Through the Holy Spirit's work in us.

Walking in faith we are convinced
He is making a difference,
Earnestly listening to the Spirit within
Though we ourselves may see no results.

Carving and shaving a little here and there,
We see only what has been destroyed
And not the beauty of the carving's creation
To make us useful in the design He has planned.

A design we cannot foresee in this lifetime,
But one day, in amazement, we will see as in a mirror
His perfect plan worked out in our lives
For the good of His kingdom.

It is then we will bow in humble thanksgiving
For the work He has accomplished in our lives,
And thank Him for the way He used the pain in our lives
To minister to others and direct them to Him.

The Holy Spirit is alive and active in each Christian,
God's promise, changing us from the inside out,
Using whatever is necessary to conform us to His design and image...
The Spirit's guarantee of a future honoring the One who loves us most.

Yes, we earnestly strive for value and importance,
But we allow the Holy Spirit to convict and change...
Change from the inside out in cooperation with His Spirit
Will bring about soul satisfaction and glimpses of glory.

“For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13 NIV)

“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV)

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)
