The storm rages outside;
Mirroring the one that I feel inside,
Nerves tightly wound
Awaiting my perfect time.

The wind pulls at me
Tearing at my heart and mind.
Where is He?
The voices hiss, pressing closer.

And yet, I do nothing;
But stand. Waiting for the right moment.
Peace and war rage against each other
Urging me to make my move.

Good verse evil
The epic battle, playing out
Around me daily.
And yet, I still stand.

Too tired to fight,
Just enough strength to remain standing
And that's all I can do.
Even as the war rages around me.

He won't come through.
He's forgotten you.

The voices continue to hiss
Circling like vultures before a kill.

The wind buffets me,
Trying to knock me loose
But my feet are firm on the Rock,
Ready while I simply rest in Him.

There it is! A small voice.
Barely able to be hear it.
But, it brings hope and peace.
All is within His plan.

He is there after all.
Even though the winds roar
And the voices shout,
I am at peace in the face of a war.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:13-17 (NIV)

I can feel the "storm." You've aptly described how Satan takes advantage when winds of adversity beset us.
I think you meant to write: "Good versus evil," rather than "Good verse evil."

Great thoughts, and a wonderful reminder of what it takes to weather the storm

Been there so many times. Just when we're ready to give up, it seems, we hear His whispered words. Very encouraging poem.

This poem brings to mind Casting Crowns song, "I will praise You in the Storm." You are right, there is immeasurable peace that comes with hearing His voice in the midst of adversity.

I love your precision in what could easily become a whole mass of convuluted explanations.

You illustrated well all the way through the difference it makes with "feet firm on the rock."
