Oh, the game of Tug o' War,
that Satan loves to play
when he knows we are weak
and puts temptation in our way.

The devil shrewdly grants the order,
that calls his army to take the first pull
and so they thrust upon us sinful pride
for they don't play by the golden rule.

A yank on this, a jerk on that,
a little heave-ho, on this-that too
there isn't anything in this contest
they won't use to trick or trip-up you.

Oh, how he likes to play with your mind,
and to push into our every thought
so he can pull on the fibers of our faith
until they begin to fray and start to rot.

A test of strength is the bet and wager,
that crosses the fine line drawn in the sand
for his sole purpose of this daily battle
is to pluck us from God's almighty hand.

Beware of this grossly wicked one,
who wants to haul you into his hellish pit
for he loves to make us think and feel
that as Christians we're not somehow fit.

Oh, the game of Tug o' War,
with the evil one will never end or cease
but if we hold on to the faith we have
we can claim the prize of love and peace!

Oh how true this poem, the enemy of our soul constantly tugging at us, attempting to steal our faith and peace! Good reminder that while on earth we remain in a spiritual battle, nicely presented!
