No Greater Love, No Finer Feast

In the forced embrace
In the frigid kiss
Cold, deliberately so
I search for his love

In every pretense
In every void of intimacy
That surfs the surface of superficiality
I cry for his love

In emotions withdrawn
And passions withheld
Our union dethroned
I long for his love

With his look of disdain
My plea unheeded
Expectancy denied
I search no more

I look no more
For questions crafted in pain

I search for God
Who bids me come
To the banqueting table set with gold,
The best of wine, fruits divine,
And Living Bread

At the banqueting table
My heart, once broken
Is made whole again
Under the canopy of His Love

‘He brought me to the banqueting house, and His banner over me was love. Sustain me with cakes of raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick.
Song of Solomon 2: 4,5

I loved the progression of Search, Cry & Long in this piece. Well written! Thanks for sharing your work.

Haunting, unrequited love! Your alliteration is beautiful, "That surfs the surface of superficiality…" …and your ending uplifts and soars! I love your poem's gracefulness and grace-filled message.
