You joy my heart, O Lord
I come to you with head bowed low
While the tears of gladness flow
Jubilant that I could be
From a life of pain set free
Knowing what you’ve done for me
My debt to you outstanding.

In the stillness of the night
Stars you sprinkled in the sky
Dazzling to this bleary eye
Speak of worlds as yet unseen
Causing me to drift and dream
Of that day when you’ll be seen
In your glory, brilliantly -- outstanding!

What if I had never known
Of your love, my heart to fill
What if I in sorrow still
Lived in human doubt and fright
Held my cup of worry tight
In the shadows of the night
Would I say outstanding?

No, you’d search the world for me
Sea and mountain, earth and sands
‘Til within your wounded hands
You held my heart, a living thing
Unto the throne of grace to bring
Opening up my life to Spring
An act of love, outstanding.
