Forever is a long, long time.
Year upon year upon years gone by,
endlessly, endlessly, on and on, and on and on.
Forever is a long, long time,
too long for some, maybe too long for me.
Day after day until the days mean little,
for one day in forever slowly becomes a small share of it all.
Forever is a long, long time,
no endings to be sure, but are endings all that bad?
Is not the worth of our days found in their mere number?
The beginning, the maturing, the finishing of days,
are not these wonders of being alive?
Forever is such a long, long time,
too long for me.
But eternity, ah eternity,
‘tis a much more beautiful thing,
‘tis not the stuff of forever where time goes on and on and on.
No, eternity is where life becomes timeless,
when life has no hurry and ticking of clocks,
no overrun schedules and calendars too full,
no waiting and waiting, no rushing and rushing,
no year after year after year once again.
No, eternity is the moment that takes all the time it needs.

I like this. I love the contrast you painted between "forever" and "eternal."

What a beautiful thought. I especially liked the last line.

Eternity sounds so much better than forever. I had always thought of them as being the same but you certainly pointed out the difference in a lovely way.

Very unique idea here. Gave me something to think about. Enjoyed this very much.

Very nice. But eternity, ah eternity... I loved that.
