Years have passed and time has flown,
Sacks of golden seed I’ve sown.
Some of it has taken hold
Yielding crops of red and gold.
But while I wandered here and there,
Bearing seed and endless prayer,
Times of sorrow, fits of grief
Taxed my soul beyond belief.
But I always felt God's love
Shining on me from above.
He gave me strength to cross the sea
And live the life He meant for me.
Children life had never blessed
Laid their heads upon my breast,
Looked at me with sunken eyes
While I stilled their helpless cries.
"Tell me, Lord, what hope is there
For their cries of bleak despair?"
“I am” is what he answered me.
“I am, I am, now don’t you see?”
Yes, Lord, you are all there is,
Heavenly comfort, heavenly bliss.
Those who offer only food
Miss the chance for greatest good.
Worldly wealth I’ll never find;
All these things I left behind
To become a pilgrim guide
For the souls whom life denied.
