Would I still go off to work and through that jungle wade?
Should I sleep till nine or ten as time would slip away?
Might I eat that final meal as I wander through that day?
Should I buy the biggest house? A kings estate by sea.
And take a mortgage over time? The end I’ll never see.
Maybe I should travel fast to places that are far.
After all, it’s just a day; no need to raise the bar.
Do I dare take time to pray before I start to run?
For if I’m dead, there is no more; no need to spoil fun.
But if I’m wrong and life goes on; what’s next in line for me?
I’ve only just one day to live, is there eternity?
Maybe there is time to pray. What should I say to Him?
Mere words can hardly give relief if I’m to sink or swim.
What does He want from mortal me? Now I am confused.
This day was looking like such fun but now I’m not amused.
Maybe I should read the Word? The Bible, God’s own Book.
Maybe I could find the answer if I took a closer look?
Maybe there is someone else who faces what I do?
Maybe I should read the Word? Does that Book have a clue?
If I had a day to live could be said by one and all.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed; we all could get the call.
What would you do with just a day? What would you say to friends?
Would you try to fix the past which maybe needs amends?
Christ knew He had a day to live on the evening prior death.
He knew the beating He would take before His final breath.
He saw the scorning, ridicule, but faced it without fear.
He knew it would be just a day and His Father was so near.
For me He chose that day to live. For me He chose to die.
For me He took His final breath. For me He made the tie.
Without His final day to live my future would be bleak.
The only thing required of me is in Him my future seek.
