She thought he asked her out to lunch.
His question, though, was, “What’s for brunch?”

She thought he said, “I like your hat!”
He really said, “You’re wearing THAT?”

She thought he told her she looked old.
He only mentioned he was cold.

She thought he wanted to go shopping.
He’d wondered when she’d be through mopping.

He asked her for a new work bench.
Though he had three, she bought a wrench.

She thought he said, “Let’s watch TV.”
He said, “Come sit and talk to me.”

And so it went—the two of them,
Her rarely comprehending him.

You’d think a couple such as this
Would never care to coo and kiss,

But they’d no real misunderstanding,
Communication notwithstanding.

For both of them loved God the best;
With hearts attuned, their home was blessed.

And when she got a hearing aid,
Mistakes like these, no more she made.

Jolly good. Fun, on topic and played out in homes everywhere.
Nothing like being on the same page where it matters.

As for the last lines:
"And when she got a hearing aid,
Mistakes like these, no more she made."

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see : )

A fine couple, brought together by God, with hearts attuned, no communication breakdown can render asunder. An enjoyable read wonderfully written!

Funny, but so true to life for the hard of hearing. Certainly communication breakdown in the raw!
