A Body Prepared

Hebrews 10:5
Philippians 2:7

Hosts of angels gazed in wonder
As they flew from Heaven high,
Gath’ring in clouds torn asunder,
Glory in the night time sky.
Sweetest singing, whilst beholding
A poor stable, meagre bare
Where young mother rested, holding
New born babe with tender care.
How amazing, what a mystery,
There within that manger lay
God Himself, Divine, Creator,
Cradled in a bed of hay.
Mighty God veiled in a body
Come to earth from heaven above,
And His coming speaks a language,
Language of eternal love.

Hands that touched the leper outcast,
Healing, with compassion’s grace.
Eyes that wept, all-seeing, -knowing,
Eyes that shone with love’s embrace.
Voice of wisdom, knowledge, insight,
Voice of all authority.
Seeing hearts and deepest motive,
Exposing all hypocrisy.
Friend of sinners, friend of children,
Friend of all who loved His name,
Welcoming the poor, the needy,
Healing all who to Him came.
Mighty God veiled in a body
Come to earth from heaven above,
All His living spoke a language,
Language of eternal love.

Knowing treachery, betrayal,
Experiencing rejection’s pain,
Abandoned, desolate, forsaken
By the ones who’d loved His name.
Suffering Saviour, body broken,
Pierced and nailed to cross of grief
Bearing in His perfect body
All my sin and unbelief.
But the grave could never hold Him
And He rose in triumph’s power
Victor, Saviour, great Redeemer,
Conquering death and evil’s hour.
Mighty God veiled in a body
Come to earth from heaven above,
Dying, Rising – glorious language,
Language of eternal love.

Your words flow so effortlessly bringing in bits and pieces of the Savior's life. This brought tingles down my back. Beautiful poem.

I loved the line "bearing in his perfect body all my sin and unbelief." Now that's poetry in motion!

Margaret, this poem as well as all your other writings, leaves me breathless. Just when I think you've produced the writing that I think is your best, you always top it with one that's even better. I hope you're looking for an agent and publisher! I praise God that your writing is done with eternity's values in view rather than for the praise of man. God bless you and "enlarge your territory."
