The Number Of The King

I have the number of the King,
Access at any hour,
No matter heaven's time zone
He's ready to empower.

Available to listen,
No switchboard blocks my call,
So willing, even eager,
When I'm against a wall.

His line is never busy
Though millions call His name,
It's all in the relationship...
His child, my call to fame.

My calls don't go to “voice mail”,
Postponed or never checked,
In fact, He stands by waiting
So eager to connect.

I've often left Him hanging
Wond'ring why I don't “phone”,
What makes me think I can succeed
Or manage on my own?

But when I realize my need,
He ne'er hangs up on me,
He listens 'til my voice wears out
And hears my every plea.

He's never shocked, He knows it all
Before the words I voice,
But never makes of me demands,
He's given me free choice.

I don't know why I wait to “phone”
When His love welcomes me,
It costs me nothing but my time,
No long distance fee.

Communication with the King,
The One who loves me best,
Translated by the Holy Ghost
Who knows my heart's request.

There is no higher privilege
To walk and talk with God,
The One who welcomes all my calls
Though I am stained and flawed.

“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3

Excellent poem. Your rhythm and rhyme were exceptional. The message rings true. This should sit well with the judges too. It's one of my favorites, for sure.

This is so beautiful and every word of it is the truth.

Excellent verses to go with such beautifully written poem! God is certainly never too far or too busy on the 'phone' for us to get through to connect with Him!

Carol, just wanted to add a note to what I've already said...it's tough being a judge and they do an awesome job...just the same, IF I were a judge this would have placed in the top five at least. It's still one of my favorites.
