Cite profundity when Iím gone
I was a window to your soul
Since vanished with the coming dawn
Too late shall wisdom extol

Measuring angles from curved lines
Pours forth from depths the heartís conflict
The complexities of your mind
Steady or fragile I depict

Not quite simple as it seems
Painting by hand, heartís overture
For you once held dear loveís far dreams
Pulled nearer to chest Ďtill time nurtured

Like fine wineís kiss to longing lips
Or sweet music to thirsty ears,
Shoresí distant reaches I eclipsed
Receiving jeweled stains from your tears

I grasp in vain for affection
I, the lost art, pen and paper
Once again this generation
May too late see looming vapor

Replaced by electronic speed
Mailmanís threatened unemployment
Is there no one left whoíll heed
Such lovely written enjoyment

Your quivering pen has succumbed
To uniform atonic words
I mourn my future headlines come
Letter murdered by emailís sword!

This is so beautiful and eloquent then you throw in a smudge of humor. Well done.
