Breathless and hurried, she came that day,
Prayer list in hand, writing slipshod;
Opening her Bible, she heard Him say,
“Be still and know that I am God.”

“But Lord,” she answered, “Life moves so fast;
I am tired, and doing my best.”

Then came His answer, kind like the last,
“Dear one, come unto me and rest.”

Their time together grew closer still,
Conversation unlike before;
Her talking less, listening for His will,
And letting Him speak more and more.

The Master said, “Cast your cares on Me,
Bring them all, for I care for you.”

“Thank You, Lord, for helping me see,”
She replied, with courage anew.

She found His grace always sufficient;
His voice from His word was so clear.
He proved Himself truly omniscient,
Blessed Counselor, true and dear.

“I love you with everlasting love,”
He spoke to her sad, lonely heart.

“You knew,” she cried to her Friend above,
“Today I felt alone, apart.”

“I promise I’ll never, ever leave,”
Was the Lord’s pledge to her that day.

“Such wondrous love, too great to perceive,”
She responded, and bowed to pray.

So they talked on, with the passing years,
As friends are often prone to do.
He sought her heart amid joys and tears;
She sought His face her whole life through.

Oh, how blest to know, at heaven’s gate,
The words they exchanged here below
Will resume in an infinite state,
Enlightened by celestial glow.

This is beautiful. You paint a lovely picture of father and child, God and human, but also friend and friend.

Nicely written poem. Certainly covers the topic well. A fine example of a life-long walk with God. Blessings. :)

We should all have more intimate encounters with our Father such as this.

I liked how, 'she listened more, and talked less' as the conversation grew deeper, and more meaningful.

Perhaps I can take a lesson from this, for many of my conversations with Him are cluttered with the sounds of my own voice.

Yeah, a poem. I was just thinking that there weren't too many poems this time (at least in Advanced). Lovely poem with a great message. I liked the conversation between God and the mc.
