"When things go wrong, He'll make them right. The God of the day is still God in the night."
The words rocked back and forth in Liz's head. Where was God tonight,
she thought, as she lay in the darkness longing for sleep.
Oh, how she needed Him.
All day, caught in the thicket of the unexpected, she was easy prey
for the disappointment that tore at her heart like a hungry lion.
Now, trapped by the night she longed for sleep.
Right? Could things be right again, ever?
When things go wrong....He'll make them right. Persistent now,
the words danced in her head, twisting, turning and twirling,
attacking the lion. In the middle of the fight, Liz finally fell asleep.
She blinked at the morning sunlight that filtered through the blinds.
I can't believe I actually fell asleep, she thought. For one fleeting moment, memories of the night flashed through her mind. She could still feel the raw edges that skirted the cusp of her heart.
No, Not today. Not today!
Lying there in the luxury of early morning, she began to hum the words to the song that taunted her in the dead of night.
For the God on the mountain, is still God in the valley,
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
And the God of the good times, is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.
We all have sleep-deprived days when we struggle to prevent the night
from taking over our day. What do we do? Who do we turn to when we
can't rid ourselves of the heartache that stalked our night and wants to
rule our day?
When tears drown your soul
And you long for relief
Give heed to My Word
"I'll give you peace".
When Sorrow and Pain
Visits your night
Don't give in to despair
I'll make it right.
Longing for sleep,
But trapped by the darkness
I'll give you rest,
Just remember, I promised.
As Christians we have an inalienable right to turn to God's word in times of distress. We can also breathe the fresh air of sweet relief from "sore trials" when we sing.
When the harsh realities of life try to beat you into submission, SING!
While you travel that long journey through the valley of despair, SING! When you sink into the abyss of pathos and pain, SING!
We can reach the plateau of peace on the wings of a song.
When our voice grows faint, and the song fades, He will "renew our strength and give us a new song.
"Some thru great sorrow, but God gives a song. In the night season and all the day long."
