Heidi bobbed and swayed to an unheard melody. She closed her eyes as she slowly moved around the classroom. She spun wildly, enjoying the feel of the wind through her dark curls, and beamed widely as her hands fluttered, whispering signs of praise to her King. The pulse of music flowed around her and she couldn't resist but to joining in the praise. She could only assume that the worship team had been lifted up into God's presence during their practice time. It was so pure a feeling that Heidi had to join in—even if she was down the hallway from it.
A hand tapped her shoulder, drawing Heidi out of her dance and she smiled widely. She rapidly signed, "Hi, April."
April, her best friend grinned and signed back, "Hey, what are you doing?"
Heidi shrugged and quickly responded, "Dancing." She grinned widely, waiting for April to respond.
April raised her eyebrows and blinked. She slowly answered, "Dancing? But there's no music...nothing to dance to."
Heidi grinned widely and twirled again before signing in confusion, "Don't you hear it?" Heidi could still hear--or at least feel pulses of music coming from somewhere.
She could almost feel the words.
DANCE OVER YOU!
April tilted her head to the side and then quickly cleaned her ears out with her fingers, "Hear what? It's completely silent."
Heidi shook her head. She just knew the worship team was still playing. "So, there's no music and the worship team isn't practicing?"
April shook her head again, her eyes wide. "They haven't been practicing for a good ten minutes now. Heidi, what were you dancing to?"
Heidi shrugged and tilted her head to the side, just trying to hear the pulses. It was still there...it was just harder to feel. Heidi shrugged at her friend as she continued to try to puzzle it out. Slowly, she signed, "I don't know. Only thing that I can figure out is that it isn't here in the church. But what if it isn't something you can hear? That none of us can hear." She paused and picked up her Bible and turned to the verse that their pastor had taught on the previous week.
"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
April's mouth quirked up into a smile and she laughed. She quickly signed, "You're saying that you can hear the singing?"
Heidi nodded slowly and laughed as she signed, "Can you hear it yet?"
April shook her head but grinned as she signed, "But its okay, I'm somewhat jealous. Don't let me stop you from dancing."
