Will you still hear me call your name
When I’m no longer here,
Imagining I’m by your side
Although I won’t be near?
Will laughter we have shared so long
Still echo in your ears?
Will you remember when I wept
And how you dried my tears?
Will you recall our wedding day,
Our pledges to be true?
How voices shook in vows you made
And ones I made to you?
Will you hold dear the way we spoke
Of love for one another
And all the prayers we made to God
When we prayed with each other?
Will you forget the words I said,
Sometimes in carelessness,
And think instead of memories
That bring you happiness?
Will you relive the countless hours
We spent in conversation,
The simple talks of day-to-day
And joys of celebration?
Then, if in God’s own timing,
The worse will come to worst,
Your voice I’ll hear for all my life,
If He should take you first.
