Six billion hearts to touch—

Six billion souls to reach—

Six billions spirits seeking—

Six billion minds to teach—

What challenges await me
As I pick up my pen?
I seek to change the world
By bringing hope to men,

But I feel like I’m chipping
A mountain with a spoon—
A cow, who skips and dreams
Of vaulting o’er the moon!

What hope is there for me,
A name that no one knows?
How can I break the walls down
And conquer all the foes?

I have no magic words,
No formula to brew;
I cannot change a billion,
But I can touch a few!—

I may not fix the world,
But I can reach to one,
’Til I have dented the mountain
Through all my love has done—

So I will meet the challenge,
And draw myself a line—
And I will change the world
One
Word
At
A
Time.

I especially like the emphasis of the lines at the beginning and end. It makes a statement. Well done!

I liked the rhyme, and the article is good encouragement to writers that if we just touch one, it matters.

I really enjoyed this poem. I was thinking before I read the last verse one person at a time, I like how you put one word at a time. Because as long as we reach one person with the Word, it was worth the effort.

Nice to see this placed. Itwas one of my favorite poems, rich with spiritual meaning.

"I cannot change a billion -- but I can touch a few . . ."

Beautiful poem that accurately describes every aspiring author's challenge and heart for wanting to reach many people.

Congrats on the Highly Commended!
