Writer's Luck

What, what would inspire me to write
a dashing sword of warrior's might
a sunrise bursting on my sight
a silver jet streak out of sight
a little child lost in the night
or would it be a soldier brave
fighting for the right

When I take up my writer's pen
I think and think and think again
and go a- wand'ring field and glen
and oh, alas, I wonder when
that inspiration will begin
and set me free from wandering
and at last begin

I rise to pace around the room
my soul cast down in utter gloom
then just in time I am struck dumb
recall the writer's rule of thumb
put pen to paper just write some
I know in time the rest will come
here's the proof Ho-hum!

So next time your mind is stuck
don't depend on writer's luck
then's the time to kick the puck
put pen to paper and
write it up!!

Great description of what we all go through - that wandering and wondering and finally, writing. Thanks for taking us on this little journey with you.

One of the great features of FaithWriters is Jan's Writing Class which can be found by clicking on the Forums at the top of this page. Jan is currently looking at poetry construction and I'm sure you'll pick up one or two pointers.
