As thermals lift the soaring eagle
To heights he cannot reach alone,
So inspiration lifts my soul
And lets me taste of fruit unknown;

’Tis not a ladder I can see,
But more a breath beneath my wings—
I ease my will into the flow
And glide with the Spirit’s wanderings…

I cannot force my heart to rise
Or climb to heaven with an urge;
I have to float upon the heat,
My heart must travel with the surge—

As I go higher, with the view,
There are sights I couldn’t see before;
Through eagles’ eyes I see the world
And taste new zeniths as I soar!

I touch the base of heaven
Where my perception is transformed;
I gain new glimpses into truth,
And new perspectives of the storms!

I glide to earth again, renewed,
And take my pen, with hopes to share
The visions written in the sky,
Beyond what we can witness here.

This felt like a captivating fairytale where I was completely enthralled, my mind not daring to wander, for I didn't want to miss a word!

I liked this. Refreshing ride. "Not a ladder, but the breath I see." Cool.

That was beautiful. I've always wanted to have an eagle's wings. :)

I don't know how I missed reading this one before. Love it - I live where eagles are abundant and I never tire of watching them soar on the thermals. - Great analogy! And congrats!

Benjamin-- I love this stanza,
"I cannot force my heart to rise
Or climb to heaven with an urge;
I have to float upon the heat,..."
Congratulations on your "highly commended" award!
