An Unintended Venture
An unintended venture
of feet, a soul and mind
where events of daily travels meet
and strain is left behind
no confines of roof or walls
nor rings of incessant calls
only a path of invitation…
“Follow”
An essential interlude
where verdant fields meet skies
and tumble towards the forest thick
in search of great surprise
worn high heels give way to clay
my heart skips on this foray
a door of evergreen springs open…
“Enter”
An inadvertent survey
of nature at its best
a redwood pine with silent voice
whispers, “Come and rest,”
a coat of fretfulness
drops slowly, so cumbrous
beneath this haven God once carved
“Listen”
A secluded masterpiece
of berries, fern and trees
sing noiseless praises that fill the air
as I rest on my knees
this refuge made for the soul
when one takes the time to stroll
and journey past the daily clamor
“Be still”
A canvas of splendid sights
mix with their symphonies
a chattering squirrel, and rustling leaves
the wood thrush and chickadees
a mantis about to bow
as in awe I whisper, “Wow”
and turn my ear to the voice of one
“Know”
An unintended venture
that God himself had planned
an invitation for solitude
a time for just us two
where the father and child spend
a moment that will ne’er end
forever reminding me He is
“Marvelous”
