This is the mouse,
a tiny gray streak,
who ran ‘cross the floor
as the woman cried, “Eek!”

This is the cat
who hissed and meowed
as she chased the mouse,
a tiny gray streak,
who ran ‘cross the floor
as the woman cried, “Eek!”

This is the dog
with muddy paws
who chased the cat
who hissed and meowed
as she chased the mouse,
a tiny gray streak,
who ran ‘cross the floor
as the woman cried, “Eek!”

This is the boy
who was walking the dog
and let the dog in
with muddy paws
who chased the cat
who hissed and meowed
as she chased the mouse,
a tiny gray streak,
who ran ‘cross the floor
as the woman cried, “Eek!”

This is the woman
who just mopped the floor
and yelled at her son
as he came in the door
'cause he let in the dog
with muddy paws
who chased the cat
who hissed and meowed
as she chased the mouse,
a tiny gray streak,
who ran ‘cross the floor
as the woman cried, “Eek!”

This is the woman
who just cried, “Eek!”
as she looked at her floor
that used to be clean and
shook her head
in dismay and chagrin
because she would have to
start mopping again!

I loved it! Read like a nursery rhyme...which I always love.

Very clever parody on "The House that Jack Built." I suspect I know the author, though you are still anonymouse. A goood fun read.

Excellent!

This was great even better than "There once was a woman who swallowed a fly." I really liked the last verse.

Interesting how a housewife's eek can build. VERY clever.

It was fun and made me feel all over again how hopeless it can seem sometimes to clean whith children at home.
