I see you’ve painted on a smile
To hide the pain within your soul;
You laugh, but I can read your empty eyes,
And see the stain that marks your heart.

You’ve sold your body for your pleasure,
But it is weighing down your conscience
And brings a bitter aftertaste;
And now you play so you’ll forget.

You play with fire and dance with flames
That they may burn away the pain,
But they just drown you in the darkness
That you may earn a place in hell.

I know you fear the light, dear girl,
You fear you’ll die if you’re revealed;
But in the light you’ll find you’re loved,
Your heart will fly from all your pain.

You’re scared your sins will break your soul
If you admit that you are trapped,
But can’t you see they’re killing you now?
You need to let them go!

Shhh…
Take a moment—listen to your heart…
Let down the masks that you are wearing…
Stop chasing fun to numb the pain,
In silence ask your heart her needs…

Do you need love to soothe your pain?
Do you need God to break your chains?
Do you need grace to heal your soul?

Do you really need to be in control?

Wow I feel like you've looked right into my heart and wrote this for me alone. Thank you so much.

Lovely. Gentle. Pointing without hammering.
