Now Professor Rick
Taught arithmetic,
But he loved to pontificate;
For hours he’d expound
On matters profound—
His views left no room for debate.
The class sat enthralled;
His wisdom, so-called,
Was charming beyond its true worth;
His high sounding words,
(Some I’d seldom heard)
Like a torrent came streaming forth.
Loud “Ohhhs” could be heard
As dawning occurred—
(He always expected it would);
They’d swoon with delight
As Rick shed new light—
As though each one now understood!
In mind he’d resolved
That man had evolved
From monkeys or some type of ape;
For millions of years
Through bloodshed and tears
The world as he knew it took shape.
‘With the great “big bang”
The cosmos began’,
He spouted as matter of fact;
‘From nothing at all
Came things great and small’—
To me his presumptions were cracked!
To my simple brain
No man can explain
How something from nothing can be;
Do cars just appear?
(New models each year)?—
Impossible!! Don’t you agree?
Should One pre-exist
Who lives in our midst—
Creator – Divine Engineer!
Then that simplifies
To observant eyes
How ordered creation appeared.
Now Professor Rick,
In my view should stick
To solutions mathematic;
Ohhh!! But maths must come
From that self same One!
Now for Rick that’s problematic!
