Topic: Huh? (01/21/10)

TITLE: Don't Believe Everything You Hear
By Marilyn Schnepp

After surfing TV channels for something worth watching, I find something on Animal Planet...so I stop surfing and sit back to watch and listen. The narrator is describing in detail how people and animals lived on the earth millions of years ago during the ice age...stating this as FACT .

"Pardon me?" I want to shout! " Don't you have a copy of the #1 Best Selling Book of all time (100 million copies printed every year). that states on page one: 'In the beginning.... the earth was without form and Void.' And according to another Best Seller, written by Daniel Webster of the dictionary fame, "Void" is defined as empty, vacant, blank, zilch, lacking, and nil, as in nothing."

I click off and go surfing again. Aha, finding the History channel, I sit back once again, to listen and learn.

The Narrator is saying, "Creation is still debated, as to whether it was done in a literal seven-day week time span, or whether it took seven years. It's still unknown!

"Say What? I shout at my TV screen. " What in the world are they teaching our children on this Classroom Channel that is shown in our schools? That ' one evening and one morning' takes a year? Whatever happened to.... 'and the evening and the morning were the second day, the third day, the fourth day, etc.?. Huh?"

"Click!" Off went that channel.

Can't go wrong by watching a religious channel, right? Wrong! You can't believe everything you hear there, either. You've got to read it for yourself.

I'm on a religious Channel, right? - and I hear the man behind the pulpit say, "The thief on the cross was in paradise with Jesus, that very same day, on a Friday."

Pardon me? Saw What? Huh? Surely he's kidding

Sorry about that, but Jesus was in the tomb until very early Sunday morning. In fact, when Mary went to the tomb and mistook Him, at first, as a gardener, and asked Him questions, He spoke her name, 'Mary'...and she turned and instantly recognized Him, saying "Master"; but Jesus said unto her,. "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father..."

If you don't believe something, read it for yourself. (John 20:17) It's just a matter of human error, by putting a comma in the wrong place. For Jesus said, "Verily I say unto thee today, thou shalt be with me in paradise."

Jesus doesn't lie. And Jesus would not have sent the thief to Heaven, Paradise or whatever one may call it, .to be with Him, and then leave him high and dry by standing him up. It is absolutely impossible for me to believe that scenario....so once again I was disappointed, bewildered and downright irate at the falsehoods I was listening to and children were learning from.

Guess the violent killings, murders and sexual explicit channels are better for keeping my blood pressure down, Huh?

I've had many of those thoughts. So by the last sentence you meant you were not going to watch the other stuff either, huh? Well done.

I did as you suggested and read it for myself, and your view is not exactly on point either. Paradise was not heaven, if that is what you are implying. So I would suggest that you follow your own advice and research what paradise and Abraham bosom's was. Happy researching!!

Many months later I was re-reading my article: And decided to explain my viewpoint of the last critique. I have heard of Heaven and Hell; But I have no recollection of a 3rd place called "paradise" where we go, stay, or live. I guess we all read our Bibles differently and come up with our own viewpoints.

That is a way to make us study the Bible more...perhps?
